If you do manage to drag youself away, for golfers there are 2 golf courses within Cloughey, including Kirkistown Castle, a superb 18 hole links course. The acclaimed Ardglass Golf Course (15 miles) one of the most stunning links courses in Ireland and of course the world reknowned Irish Open Course of Royal County Down within easy reach and many other fabulous County Down courses which are easily accessible.
A beautiful beach and coastal walks are on your doorstep and Portaferry, at the tip of the peninsula on 'the narrows', is only a short drive away (4 miles). Visit Exploris, Northern Irelands only aquarium or take the ferry to the beautiful village of Strangford (5 min crossing) and the National Trust property Castle Ward and the Game of Thrones set.
Or take a short drive to the delightful village of Greyabbey on the shores of Strangford Lough with its array of antique shops, and Mount Stewart, a fantastic neo-classical house with its celebrated gardens.
It is of course a perfect base to explore further afield with Belfast 25 miles (45 minutes), Newcastle (Co Down) and the Mourne Mountains 27 miles (50 minutes) (via the Portaferry - Strangford car ferry) and Giants Causeway 85 miles (1 hour 45 minutes).
